Dear Families,
Each week our class will be celebrating the uniqueness of one child by having a class Super Hero/Star of the Week. At that time, one student will be given the opportunity to share his/her family pictures, favorite book, interests, hobbies, etc...
Each day of the week will consist of an activity to honor him or her and to get to know our special Super Hero/Star.
Monday: Make a Super Hero/Star Display!
Please send pictures for our Super Hero/Star display. Include a picture of the Super Hero/Star now and as a baby, and a family picture. You may send other pictures as well including pets, your home, a vacation...) Help your child practice what to tell the class about his/her pictures.
Tuesday: Poster Share
Your Star student has a poster to color and fill in to help us learn more about him/her. Please feel free to use the crayons and markers provided in the Super Hero Student bag. Make sure the poster is colorful and completely filled out before turning it in on Tuesday. The poster will be shared and displayed on our Super Hero/Star of the Week wall.
Wednesday: Special Sharing
Please help your child collect special items from home to bring to school to share with his or her classmates. Try to encourage your child to choose items that have some sort of meaning rather than just a collection of toys.
Thursday: Guest for Lunch/Guest Reader
A parent or other adult is invited to school to eat lunch and or read a story. Please have your child select a favorite picture book for you to read to the class. We eat around 11:00. I need to let the kitchen know about extra meals. I can be flexible about the day (and/or time for guest readers as well). Please let me know by Monday what your plans are. Please, also plan to bring your driver's license and allow extra time to check in at the Office first.
Friday: Super Hero Friends
Your Super Hero student will be presented with a friendship book created by his/her classmates.
This activity is a wonderful tool in helping to build speaking skills, writing skills, and building friendships. I am looking forward to your child being our classroom Super Hero.
Thank you for your help and support.
